Deloitte Tax Championship 2024

You are cordially invited to take part in the Deloitte Tax Championship 2024. The competition serves as a platform for students to showcase their skills and knowledge in taxation.

Description
Team Track
Selected students from the HKU Business School will form into a team of 4 to take part in the Preliminary Round on September 21, 2024 (Saturday). The round consists of two sections.

Case defence: Teams will be divided into pairs and each pair will analyse and present on different issues from the same case, then respond questions and rebuttals from the other team.

Case analysis: Deloitte will provide additional case information. Participating teams will conduct in-depth analysis and submit a report within the specified time limit.

Induvidual Track
Participants are required to design a GenAI solution to help enterprise in selected finance and taxation business scenario. The proposal submission deadline is July 20, 2024.

Shortlisted participants are required to present their GenAI design solution submitted in the preliminary round and answer questions from judges on September 22, 2024 (Sunday).

Final Round
The final round is expected to be held in-person in mid-to-late November 2024 (Exact date(s) and location in Mainland China to be confirmed).

Teams and individuals who will be advanced to the final round will be matched into a new team following a “4+1” model (4 students from Team Track + 1 student from Individual Track). The finalist teams will need to analyse a selected business case and present their findings to compete for the Championship.


Eligibility
Team Track

Full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students for the academic year 2024-25 who have NEVER participated in this competition (Students who will be on Exchange/Leave of Absence for the period from September – December 2024 should NOT apply).
Strong interest and commitment to participate in the competition and MUST be available to attend the Preliminary Round in mid-September, and the Final Round in mid-to-late November 2024 (location in Mainland China to be confirmed).
Able to communicate in Cantonese and Putonghua (for efficient communication among team members). Putonghua is required for presentation.
Knowledge of China Tax and International Tax is a MUST.

Individual Track
The free registration system is open to students from major universities at home and abroad, especially students majoring in technology, management and information, management science, coordination, etc., or other students who are interested in applying digital technology in business scenarios. Students must be full-time undergraduate or master's students when registering and participating in the competition. Students who have participated in the previous annual Deloitte Tax Elite Challenge will not be allowed to participate again.
