Yes, we do offer positions to students who don´t intern with us. While our goal is to source as many of our full-time hires from the intern class, we do have a number of openings this year and will therefore look at a broader pool of candidates. Students who did not intern with us will be actively considered for full-time roles.

What we look for is a consistent track record of strong performance, strategic thinking, leadership potential, and transferable skills. Past experience is important, but it does not necessarily limit your job opportunities. We have hired many Graduates/Master's/MBAs through the IRDP who did not have any background in a certain function. It is important to articulate your transferable skills and give examples that will show us your results and leadership.
Johnson & Johnson recruits talented candidates for IRDP who are interested in going back to their home countries, regardless of where they have taken their graduate studies. We typically do not sponsor visas for permanent IRDP positions outside of your home region or country. However, in some rare cases, under very special circumstances, we may sponsor a candidate's visa, depending on functional area requirements or business needs.
IRDP internships are specifically designed to develop potential business leaders who will work for our businesses in their home country.

The advantages of applying to jobs in your home country are related, first of all, to your performance. Our experience has been that new IRDP participants tend to do better during their first year when they start in markets where they are very familiar with the culture and business environment. Of course, there will be exceptions to this. Typically our advice is to jump-start your career in your home country. If you demonstrate strong performance, your opportunities can be very broad.
Working in your home country for a period of time also helps to fulfill our organization's commitment to delivering healthcare solutions that are culturally appropriate, and to improving access to healthcare for people in every part of the world. The interview will include behavior-based questions based on key competencies important for Johnson & Johnson leaders. We recommend you think about personal examples that you can discuss in some detail, describing the situation or task, the action you took, and the result or outcome. The interviewer will also discuss your preferences and motivations.

We actually prefer it when you are open to more than one segment, since it allows us to consider you for multiple opportunities. We will make your résumé available to hiring managers from both segments, which will increase your chances. We also want to know if you do not wish to consider a segment, which helps to manage expectations on our part.
Offers for full-time positions are generally extended any time between September and December, but in some cases, offers may be extended after that time period.
Internship offers are generally extended between January and March each year, but may be made at other times.
We will ask for your preference (Pharmaceutical, or MedTech) during your interviews, and every effort will be made to match students' preferences when possible. In some cases, only certain segments will have openings in a particular country.
